Psalms 107

The Lord Rescues People from Many Troubles.

1 aGive thanks to the Lord, for bHe is good,
For His mercy is everlasting.
2 cThe redeemed of the Lord shall say so,
Those whom He has dredeemed from the hand of the enemy
3 And egathered from the lands,
From the east and from the west,
From the north and from the
Lit sea
south.

4 They gwandered in the wilderness in a
Lit waste
desert region;
They did not find a way to
Or a habitable city; lit a city of habitation
an inhabited jcity.
5 They were hungry
Lit also
and thirsty;
Their lsouls felt weak within them.
6 Then they mcried out to the Lord in their trouble;
He saved them from their distresses.
7 He also had them walk on a
Or level
,
ostraight way,
To go to
Or a habitable city; lit a city of habitation
,
qan inhabited city.
8 rThey shall give thanks to the Lord for His mercy,
And for His
I.e., wonderful acts
wonders to the sons of mankind!
9 For He has tsatisfied the
Or parched
thirsty soul,
And He has filled the vhungry soul with what is good.

10 There were those who wlived in darkness and in
Or deep gloom
the shadow of death,
yPrisoners in misery and
Lit irons
chains,
11 Because they had aarebelled against the words of God
And abrejected the acplan of the Most High.
12 Therefore He humbled their heart with labor;
They stumbled and there was adno one to help.
13 Then they aecried out to the Lord in their trouble;
He saved them from their distresses.
14 He afbrought them out of darkness and
Or deep darkness
the shadow of death
And ahbroke their bands apart.
15 aiThey shall give thanks to the Lord for His mercy,
And for His
I.e., wonderful acts
wonders to the sons of mankind!
16 For He has akshattered gates of bronze
And cut off bars of iron.

17 Fools, because of
Lit the way of their offense
their rebellious way,
And ambecause of their guilty deeds, were afflicted.
18 Their ansouls loathed all kinds of food,
And they aocame close to the apgates of death.
19 Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble;
He saved them from their distresses.
20 He aqsent His word and arhealed them,
And assaved them from their
Lit pits
destruction.
21 auThey shall give thanks to the Lord for His mercy,
And for His
I.e., wonderful acts
wonders to the sons of mankind!
22 They shall also offer awsacrifices of thanksgiving,
And axtell of His works with joyful singing.

23 Those who aygo down to the sea in ships,
Who do business on great waters;
24 They have seen the works of the Lord,
And His
I.e., wonderful acts
wonders in the deep.
25 For He baspoke and raised a bbstormy wind,
Which bclifted the waves
Lit of it
of the sea.
26 They rose up to the heavens, they went down to the depths;
Their soul bemelted away in their misery.
27 They reeled and bfstaggered like a drunken person,
And
Lit all their wisdom was swallowed up
were at their wits’ end.
28 Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
And He brought them out of their distresses.
29 He bhcaused the storm to be still,
So that the waves
Lit of it
of the sea were hushed.
30 Then they were glad because they were quiet,
So He guided them to their desired harbor.
31 bjThey shall give thanks to the Lord for His mercy,
And for His
I.e., wonderful acts
,
blwonders to the sons of mankind!
32 They shall also bmexalt Him bnin the congregation of the people,
And bopraise Him at the seat of the elders.

33 He bpturns rivers into a
Or desert
wilderness,
And springs of water into a thirsty ground;
34 And a brfruitful land into a bssalt waste,
Because of the wickedness of those who dwell in it.
35 He btturns a
Or desert
wilderness into a pool of water,
And a dry land into springs of water;
36 And He has the hungry live there,
So that they may establish
Or a habitable city; lit a city of habitation
,
bwan inhabited city,
37 And sow fields and bxplant vineyards,
And
Lit acquire fruits of yield
gather a fruitful harvest.
38 He also blesses them and they bzmultiply greatly,
And He cadoes not let their cattle decrease.

39 When they cbbecome few and cclowly
Because of oppression, misery, and sorrow,
40 He cdpours contempt upon noblemen
And cemakes them wander cfin a pathless wasteland.
41 But He cgsets the needy
Lit in an inaccessibly high place
securely on high, away from affliction,
And cimakes his families like a flock.
42 The cjupright see it and are glad;
But all ckinjustice shuts its mouth.
43 Who is clwise? He is to pay attention to these things,
And consider the cmmercy of the Lord.
